  • Well done... but why do you need a conductor?

  • @kgskaug:

    1) because of the very little time available to rehearsal;

    2) because the need to shape the "details" of music as well as the "grand line" of it;

    3) so, because the need of "someone" who take the responsibility of all those choices above and of the final result.

    i think it's quite enough...

    thank for your comment.

    regards,

  • @aliusmodum - I can appreciate all those reasons. I was half expecting you'd also say, "because in the opera house there is also a conductor" :-).

    An external (non-playing) coach for "executive decision making" in matters of dynamics, phrasing and colouring can certainly always be useful. But even so, s/he wouldn't necessarily have to conduct. I love so the way good non-conducted ensembles sort things out amongst themselves on stage.

  • @kgskaug:

    my fault. i forgot a fourth reason that probably will answer to the other question too)

    4) because that performance was part of a concert of modern music including composers as constantin silvestri (you can find an excerpt on our channel), richard strauss (capriccio & metamorphosen) and myself all performed "a parti reali"

    4bis) we - at aliusmodum - have some respect for modern and (good) contemporary music...

    regards,

  • Perhaps this string sextet can be seen as a kind of "study" for Strauss's later masterpiece "Metamorphosen?"

  • One year later... agree 100% with shostakk... Horribly out of tune! Too bad... makes a beautifully written piece of music quite unbearable to listen to.

  • Another question, this seems a long way from your normal baroque repertoire. How come?

  • Lo siento pero desafinan tanto que no hacen justicia a la maravillosa música de Strauss.

  • viva paola emanuele: bravissima!!!!! e bella donna....
