Wäre es nicht einfacher, bei der zweiten Technik, einfach die Hintergrundebene zu duplitzieren. Den Filter anzuwenden und dann per Ebenenmaske die Flares wegzumaskieren.

Very good. Part of what you like about the lens flare is not just the pure white in the center, but the fact that it takes on a hue (warm, or in this case cool) as it dies. Also try your second technique on black instead of gray and use SCREEN blend mode. You may like that as well. Your first method will also work on a black layer using SCREEN. You can cool the midtones, and the whole thing is very movable.

I prefer a grey layer on the second techniques cause i sometimes use a "selektiv color" adjustment layer as a clipping mask and change there the midtones to give the light a colour.
I also use sometimes the dodge and burn tool on that grey layer.
But i will try the technique on a black layer too. Thanks for the words.
