SUNY Buffalo is a significant school for the study of (Lacanian) psychoanalysis in the United States, if not North America. He knows a number of the faculty, and so it's no surprise that he spoke there. The same goes for why he chose to speak at University of New Mexico at Albuquerque not too long ago. Adrian Johnston, who wrote a book on "Zizek's Ontology" that Zizek has personally (if in passing) told me is incredible, teaches in the philosophy department there.
How does Zizek choose what schools to lecture at? I was under the impression that he only did Ivy League schools and Liberal Arts schools. I guess not. If he's willing to go to SUNY Buffalo, he should come here to Indiana University. Cornel West got a HUGE audience when he came here.
He actually had a talk together with West, it's here on youtube. He probably get's a lot of invitations and then decides where to go. If you want him there, you should invite him.

btw, ain't it great how this shtuifft always starts so dry, passionless, and formal but evolves into a spouting fountain of logical beautiful emotion.
and isn't it funny how at the end he's like, oh, that's it? like he's the woman.
