@Bureyeanne On second viewing, I'd say it would pass. The trouble is on first viewing is it looks like someone just slapped the NEA logo at the end. The music fits, and I like the framing, subject in the mirror, subject next to architecture. I also like good black and white contrast. I'm just missing the direct connection making such an artistic statement. Maybe it would work better if each foot step left a mark, or the main character was in bright red.
@vestaxwax I forgot this was a student project. Students have much less resources than professional studios. I assumed that this was made by a team not 1 or two students. I judge student work on a different scale. I have a hard time seeing a direct connection to the production of fine art to the mundane. However the idea is presented and understood. I suppose with more time you could have explored everyday life having an interesting look and feel. Shooting in 35mm shows dedication to the craft.
@causticprovocateur Yes, I am an artist and agree. Art is a product just like anything else. It isn't any more holy or unholy than anything else for sale. Since everything can be art, then by that logic everyone should get NEA funding. Secondly this video wouldn't pass any of my multimedia classes.

@Bureyeanne
Q: is your demo reel an example of something deemed worthy of a passing grade in your multimedia classes?
my film was made when i was a student. what's your excuse?
glad we could share a few moments watching each other's work -- cheers.

Hmmm, causticprovocateur: looks like someone needs a little art in their life. :o)
On another note, I love the message of this commercial.

National Endowment for Schlock. No different than a welfare cheque. Entire program promotes hand out mentality which should be abolished.
