Businesses should take action now and walk away from the Royal Mail if they're to survive the recession, according to Business writer Richard Tyler.

We're in the middle of another week of nationwide walkouts and tens of millions of parcels remain undelivered, bringing some businesses to a halt.

Speaking to The Telegraph, entrepreneur Lindsay Drabwell says after ordering some stock for a festival, they didn't arrive in time after the national strikes. She says she missed out on valuable sales because of industrial action, which she describes as "scandalous" for small businesses.

The Royal Mail continues to hold talks with the Communication Workers Union and is urging union members to call an end to the strike.

Alternatives to the national postal service, such as Parcel2Go continue to operate as usual.
