After Columbine, the US adjusted their procedures in a mass casualty shooting to have initial responding officers enter the school immediately without setting up a perimeter and waiting for SWAT ... which carries the risk they're just creating a perimeter so the attacker can simply keep on killing safely within it.
I suppose if this is accurate, Australia has not adopted this tactic. Just letting a boy, medics, various gallery workers, etc., be picked off by a lone gunman seems ... odd.

One thing I don't believe in this episode is that an aggressive, hands-on recently-ex-SAS soldier who has decided to track down and engage the enemy is going to let a female paramedic/rescue-type female order him to stand down.
Not buying that at all.
