Does asking the scholars come under blameworthy Taqleed? Do you have to ask a particular scholar or just any scholar? If the scholar makes a mistake, who is responsible, the scholar or the common person
Questions:
-- About the rulings in which the Ulama differ - like the recitation of the Basmalah before Fatiha in Salaah, and the issue of Basmalah being part of every surah - which view should one follow? The one he thinks is correct or the one that the Ulama of his locality follow; so as to avoid disunity and fitna?
-- Shaikh ibn uthaymeen (rahimahulah) mentioned 3 types of people :
i) the mujtahid who is not supposed to do taqleed,
ii) the students of knowledge, who are not mujtahids, but can analyse the proofs of scholars and choose the correct opinion; and they too are not supposed to do taqleed,
iii) those who are neither of the above two and they must do taqleed.
My question is: Since many of the muslims don't know the Arabic language, don't have knowledge of fiqh, hadeeth, etc. and this includes those who are well educated in non-islamic fields, are such people supposed to do taqleed?
How do we choose whose taqleed is to be done?
