Would more women be elected as MLAs to British Columbia's Legislature if the BC Single Transferable Vote, BC-STV, passes at referendum May 12, 2009? Comment by Member of the Scottish Parliament, Tricia Marwick, speaking at Fair Vote Canada AGM in Vancouver BC April 18, 2009. Marwick campaigned for STV for years in Scotland, culminating in 32 Scottish Local Governments using STV for their elections beginning in 2007. Passage of BC-STV requires 60% approval; see www.stv.ca.

  • WilfDay, maybe you should do your homework.....less then enthusiastic about STV? Explain please....

  • Support BC-STV on May 12, 2009.

  • What I find remarkable here is that Tricia Marwick is not a Liberal Democrat, the smaller party which pushed hardest for municipal STV, to the point of making it a deal-breaker in the last Labour - LibDem coalition. No, she's a Scots Nat, one of the two big parties that were less enthusiastic about STV.
