Considered by some to be one of the most brilliant toccatas ever written, the Precipitato boldly affirms the key of the sonata through a more diatonic harmonic language than found in the first movement. This is obvious from the very beginning, with simple B-flat major triads repeated over and over again. Despite a wide range of performance tempos chosen by different pianists, the effect is nevertheless imposing and exciting. The toccata culminates into a furious recapitulation of the main theme, taxing all ten fingers to the utmost, until the piece finally ends in a thundering cascade of octaves.

Józef Kapustka jest polskim pianistą zamieszkałym we Francji. Urodził się w 1969 roku w Tarnowie (woj.małopolskie), gdzie bardzo wcześnie rozpoczął naukę gry na fortepianie pod kierunkiem miejscowego pedagoga Danuty Cieślik. W latach 1987-89 uczęszczał na Akademię Muzyczną w Krakowie kształcąc się pod kierunkiem prof.Ewy Bukojemskiej. Zadebiutował podczas Konfrontacji Chopinowskich w Antoninie w 1988 roku. Od 1989 przebywa na Zachodzie, glównie we Francji. W 1992 ukończył wysoce prestiżową nowojorską The Juilliard School oraz w ramach studiów podyplomowych nie mniej prestiżową londyńską Royal Academy of Music. Studia uzupełniał podczas kursów mistrzowskich pod kierunkiem Dmitrija Baszkirowa w Madrycie i prof. dr hab. Wiery Gornostajewej w Moskwie. Jest również absolwentem Music Academy of the West w kalifornijskiej Santa Barbara i posiadaczem dyplomu studiów wyższych paryskiej Sorbony w dziedzinie języka i cywilizacji francuskiej. Był stypendystą Fundacji Kosciuszkowskiej w Nowym Jorku, Fundacji Barbary Piaseckiej Johnson w Princeton (USA) , Isaaca Albeniza w Madrycie i in. Laureat wielu nagród i wyróżnień, w tym jako jeden z nielicznych w historii tej instytucji Grand Prix Międzynarodowego Konserwatorium w Paryżu. Solista i kameralista , występuje na całym świecie, w tym wielokrotnie w największych amerykańskich salach koncertowych (Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Alice Tully Hall itd.)

Ceniony akompaniator ,współpracuje z wieloma artystami głównie młodego pokolenia. W 2004 roku wziął udział w Festiwalu w Awinionie (największej tego typu imprezie na świecie) jako aktor-pianista w sztuce Serge'a Valetti "Huitre et demi" (reż. Jean-Christiana Grinevalda). Tytularyzowany w 2008 roku wykłada w Konserwatorium w Chelles pod Paryżem.

If you just look at the way his shirt moves as he plays, it's kind of a give-away on this video being sped up to an extent... 15% or so, so people wouldn't notice it.

It sounds sped up by 15 - 20%. So, people won't notice much... but the movement of his shirt and of his head at bits of this performance is kind of telling.
