Shows you how to create a wi-fi connection between two computers running Windows Vista. This allows for internet sharing, chatting, and mult-player LAN gaming.
STEPS:
1. "connect to a network".
2. choose "set up a connection or network"
3. choose "set up an ad hoc connection"
4. choose any network name. name it whatever you want.
5. Make the network open so that a password is not required.
6. Once the network is created, other computers in the vicinity should be able to find it on their list of networks.

  • i use a wifi enable win 7 laptop.i set up a wireless ad hoc connection and connected it bt it shows no signal strength.and my smart phone couldn't detect any wifi network.what can i do now.pls help

  • @shuvo666brutal are you trying to get internet access on your smart phone using the ad hoc connections? The ad hoc connection will not give your smart phone wifi access, sorry

  • I'm trying to figure out if these computer to computer networks can only work within range of the wireless signal? Like if my boyfriend set up an ad hoc network at his house then I went to my house (We live a bit of a distance away) would this computer to computer network still be able to work? Stupid question, but I don't know anything about this stuff :P

  • @katweetybird To answer your question, the ad hoc connection will only work in the local area network. This means that have to be connected directly to the network that the computer that created the connection is on (or in the range of the wireless signal of that network using a router). Therefore you cannot connect to your boyfriend's ad hoc network from your house.

  • can a laptop with Win 7 connect to a ad hoc network on a Vista laptop?

  • @NeoSkogmus I don't see why not

  • you have a mic...

  • Why type this stuff if you could just speak into the mic you obviously have?

  • @krissybabybb none of my computers have that either. let me know if you found a solution to that problem

  • Mine doesnt have a "connect to adhoc" option. does that mean it won't be possible to connect my pc wirelessly then?

  • Why didn't you just speak in this video? The microphone is on!

  • @alwayztubin I found it out 7 months ago, it works =)
