Such a great idea! It's ass backwards tho! Quantifying the variables to get your "carbon footprint" makes the site sort of useless. In other words market your site towards business first, and then your mission for a better world will naturally follow right behind
If I planned a hike, I could care less how big my $hits are. I need to know how many calories I need and how to get them at a cheap price. Catch my drift?
If not, if this site was marketed to business, your variables would
include weight/route(air,water,ground,distance,time)/price/etc/etc. Basically if businesses can get things cheaper better and faster(via sourcemap). The high volume global freight markets will naturally collapse benefiting the consumer, the business, and the earth. It would be a way more efficient approach than ramming "carbon footprint" and "eco friendly" pop words down the consumers throat.
Once again would be easier you. -Your site is geared toward the earth consious consumer. It will have way more impact ALLOT faster if you provide a tool for buisnesses to make a profit while helping the earth.
