Two buses passing eachother on a road meant for one bus. Just outside of Machu Picchu, Peru.

First: The Bus driver sees another bus.
Then: The driver backs up to a spot where the other bus can pass. Close the edge of a hundred (or so) meter drop, mind you...
Finally: The other bus passes, and the driver can continue until he meets another bus. And this happened quite a few times, because Machu Picchu is a popular tourist spot!

  • Yes, that's how it is. Fortunatelly, they use good buses (Mercedes Benz: Marco Polo with HD brake system ).

I drove up and down 6 times. You just wanna make sure that you sit on the right when going up - and on the left going down back to Aqua Calientes. That way you don't see the drop ! :-D
