This short informational movie is a project of the Rotary Club of Brighton North, Victoria, Australia. DVD liner notes: Friedreich ataxia is the commonest genetic cause of unsteadiness in the community. Individuals affected by this genetic condition begin to become unsteady in childhood or adolescence. The unsteadiness progresses inexorably and results in the individual becoming wheelchair-bound on average ten years after the onset of symptoms, and unfortunately lifespan is significantly reduced. The movie also highlights the Friedreich ataxia clinic at the Monash Medical Centre and details the clinical and laboratory-based research undertaken in the Bruce Lefroy Centre for Genetic Health Research at the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute situated in the Royal Childrens Hospital in Parkville, Victoria, Australia.
