  • My favorite version is by Mudboy and the Nutrons on their album They Walk Among Us. I am very glad I found this version also.

  • The Village Voice always sang their praises and to finally hear the Thompsons perform a duet of such an extraordinary song is almost overwhelming . I agree with Dan Penn who co-wrote the song that James Carr's is the definitive version from the 1960s.

  • Percy sledge's version is stunning,almost as good as "when a man loves a woman'
