documentary of rock music "We Knew"

Choosing the fate of rock musician is similar to be a dissident. This film will be about how rock music and rock musicians during the last decades of Soviet era despite of censorship and retaliation helped to break the wall and led to gaining the independence of three Baltic States.


Right from the beginning in 60ties Soviet Union tried to discourage, restrict with all means expansion of rock music. It was always something bad - they called it "rotten fruit of degraded capitalismus, what demoralizing minds of Soviet youth". Despite of that rock "break the wall" -- made a hole in "Iron Curtain" and gain hearts and minds of tens of thousands young people who lived behind that curtain. It was unstoppable avalanche. It was the important lost battle which later leads to collapse of whole system. Rock music and rock musicians where on frontline of rebellion against the soviet regime, fighting for freedom of thought, expression and speech. Despite of censorship and retaliation in a hidden roundabout way through lyrics and music they managed to deliver to widest audience the spirit of recalcitrance and freedom desire. This will be the story about power of music that is not only the entertainment but have deep impact to the subconsciousness, cause emotions, colour our moods, affect our perceptions, generate a behavioural pattern and deliver hidden messages.
