Florida criminal defense attorney Steve Kramer discusses the 3 things every DUI defendant should know.
Finding yourself arrested with a DUI is a very difficult experience. If you're facing this very serious charge, there are some things you should know. First off, hiring an attorney is vital. You need to understand that you have a certain amount of days to resolve things and the clock begins at the time of your DUI. Not when you're bailed out or at arraignment, but at the time of your DUI arrest. It's incredibly important to put things in motion to resolve this issue. You need to be prepared for a hearing in which you could get your license back for 30 days while waiting for your hearing. That's extremely important. You have a life and work, and you need a vehicle. Getting back onto the road is vital! Your lawyer will also be looking at the arrest itself to see if there was failure there on the officer's side. Did they perform their tests correctly? Was the breathalyzer machine working correctly? All these items can help us dimiss or greatly reduce consequences in your case. An attorney can also lead you down the path of getting counseling. Having started or completed counseling before your DUI hearing is extremely beneficial and makes you look good in front of the judge. At the very least, if you're required to do counseling as a result of your hearing, you've already started. Watch the video now to learn more.
