The American Postal Workers Union Stands In Solidarity With Wisconsin's Public Workers.

We are fighting against an extreme governor who is pushing a radical conservative/corporate agenda Trojan horsed inside of a "budget bill".

This was proven on 2/18/11 when public unions gave concessions to balance the budget in order to maintain collective bargaining rights. Governor Walker rejected the concession and continues to refuse to even come to the table and negotiate.

You may ask" If this hoopla was all about the budget, why isn't this issue over?"

The best way to understand Walker's proposal is to look at it as a multi part attack on the state's labor unions. In part one, their ability to bargain for benefits is crushed. They lose all bargaining rights except those regarding wages (which are capped under the CPI....this is not negotiating).

In part two, union's ability to collect dues and thus spend money organizing members or lobbying the legislature is undercut (members will be prohibited from having dues taken out of payroll checks and may quit union at any time.)

In part three, workers have to vote the union back into existence every single year.

Put it all together and it looks like this.

Wisconsin's unions cant' deliver value to their members, they are deprived of resources to change the rules so they can start delivering value to their members again, and because of that, their members eventually give into employer pressure and shut the union down in one of the annual certification elections.

Privatization follows.

Then comes the end game.

For the Governor and his corporate front groups like ALEC and donors (like Fox News CEO Rupert Murdoch and the Billionaire Koch Brothers) the core issue is crippling unions so they will be unable to finance and organize for future democrats.

Without union financial support, the GOP believes they can run the table in future elections. If you don't believe me you might want to go to YOUTUBE and watch Karl Rove on Fox news stating the same strategy.

If Wisconsin falls, the rest of the nation will follow. The Governor himself has stated this proclaiming "this is his moment". Make no mistake, with similar events being played out around the country, this is a nationally coordinated hit job on unions that is being financed by Koch brother corporate front groups like Americans For Prosperity and Club For Growth.

Out of state corporate front group agitators like Americans For Properity (financed by the billionaire Koch brothers) organized a small tea party rally outside of the the capitol that day and I must say that these folks are fueled by a high level of fear, rage, and a TON OF MISINFORMATION. You really have to wonder how long it will take for Tea Party middle class devotees to realize just how badly they are being used by uber conservative billionaires like the Koch brothers who spin their legislation using groups like ALEC.

State Senators who were last elected in 2008 are already subject to recall.
The list of relevant Republicans is:
District 2, Rob Cowles, Green Bay
District 8, Alberta Darling, River Hills
District 10, Sheila Harsdorf, River Falls
District 14, Luther Olsen, Ripon
District 18, Randy Hopper, Fond du Lac
District 20, Glen Grothman, West Bend
District 28, Mary Lazich, New Berlin
District 32, Dan Kapanke, La Crosse
.

Looking back at the 2008 election results, the Senators most likely to be Petak'd are:

Alberta Darling (who received 50.46% of the vote to Sheldon Wasserman's 49.45%)
Randy Hopper (who received 50.05% to Jessica King's 49.86%)
Dan Kapanke (who received 51.38% to Tara Johnson's 48.53%)

As for our fine governor ........... recall can get underway next January with 500,000 signatures.

SOLIDARITY TO ALL UNION BROTHERS AND SISTERS WHO HAVE POUNDED THAT PAVEMENT SINCE DAY ONE (ESPECIALLY THE POLICE AND FIREFIGHTERS) AND WHO ARE CONTINUING TO FIGHT FOR THE RIGHTS OF ALL WORKING PEOPLE AT OUR STATE CAPITOL.

SPECIAL THANKS TO THE THOUSANDS OF PRIVATE SECTOR NON UNION FOLKS THAT HAVE BEEN PROTESTING AND WHO UNDERSTAND THAT UNIONS EQUAL BETTER PAY AND WORKING CONDITIONS FOR EVERYONE

AND SPECIAL THANKS TO MY CONSERVATIVE FRIENDS WHO ARE WISE ENOUGHT TO UNDERSTAND CHECKS AND BALANCES OF SOCIETY AND AGREE THAT THE CORE ISSUE OF THIS BILL IS FAR TOO RADICAL.

I HAVE NEVER BEEN MORE PROUD IN MY LIFE TO STAND SHOULDER TO SHOULDER WITH SOME OF THE FINEST AMERICANS IVE EVER MET!!!

TAKE A LOOK BACK , THE UNIONS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF AMERICAN HISTORY AND A VIBRANT MIDDLE CLASS. WE ARE ON THE RIGHT SIDE NOW.!!!

  • This good for nothing republican state senator who created Walker's anti-union legislation is about to get recalled and kicked out of office. Sheldon Wasserman for State Senator of the Eigth District of Wisconsin 2011!

  • @idq000 It truly is a political party gone insane........welcome to the new normal....words of tea party darling Chris Christie (R) New Jersey.......ironically, far too many union people voted for Scott Walker and now that hes paying back his CEO oligarchs for getting him elected the hammer has fallen. The eighth district of wisconsin is prime ground for a recall election. Good Luck. Solidarity!!

  • @zoobs39 We did it! Over 30,000 signatures in 48 days when we needed only 20,000. WTMJ4 informed her that 30,000 of her constituents wanted her out. That immediately wiped that smug grin off her face, and she became visibly flustered. I can't wait to see her reaction when she loses the recall election! That would be priceless. Solidarity!

  • Good job CC, glad to see our local represented. I was there on Monday and will be back again. Jon in Waukesha thinks it's time to show our corporate masters from the 'Club for Growth' that we can run Wisconsin without them. This ain't over.

  • that's a pretty capitol building. great place to protest/party. what song are they playing on the horns?

  • i'm an apwu member from chicago and me and a few friends went up monday to support the WI workers. It's a beautiful sight to see 1000's of workers fighting as one for a great cause!
