The Thing is a science-fiction horror film directed by Matthijs van Heijningen Jr., and written by Eric Heisserer and Ronald D. Moore. It stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Joel Edgerton. Despite sharing the same title, this movie is not a remake of but rather a prequel to the 1982 John Carpenter film of the same name, taking place immediately prior to the events of that film. It follows a team of Norwegian and American scientists who discover an alien buried deep in the ice of Antarctica, realizing too late that it is still alive, consuming then imitating the team members.

  • Hey mr. king just thought that i would let you know about the thing comic book series they came out with in the 90's. It resolved carpenters film with the military shows up and takes kurt russell and keith david back to a hospital. they test the blood on both and they do kurt first and he's fine, they leave the room to do keith and stay with the russell character and you hear a scream then revealing that keith is the thing and russell has to help the hostital staff fight the thing.

  • thing is if they made a sequel to a film from 29 years ago not many people would go to see it nowadays as they wouldnt know what the hell the film would be about so a prequel is a fair shout, im still yet to see this film though as it isnt out in the UK for another 2 months :(

  • There was a sequel game I played back on PS2 called the Thing if you ever wanted to play it man,it's pretty cool,it's on PC too and probably real cheap now days. It's kinda creepy and you control your team of people and try to keep their sanity together

  • 08:18 I couldn't agree with you more Micheal.I know this film was going to be remake and now judging by what you said here its a remake. cool first part i love that segment too lol!

  • @RobesMarlin

I did not get the notice slash JPEG link for blood and chocolate the sites been malfuncting a lot lately for the lass several months to a few years.

  • They did do sequels to the thing remakes. they were only done in the form of comic books so not every body has been able to acess them.

  • @slagarcrue85 It's a bonus mini-series within the Month of Horror reviews. This was Part 2 if I'm not mistaken. You must have missed the "Blood and Chocolate" review which contains Part 1. Enjoy it!

  • good review i may have to see this on dvd.

  • what does jason have to do with the thing micheal?

  • I've only seen the trailers but it does look exactly like the original. Why they called it a prequel instead of a remake is beyond me. Maybe they figured remakes were getting old so they called it a prequel just to be different.

Even though the ending of the original Thing was ambiguous, I also thought they were both human. Whether or not they survived though, that I'm not certain.
