It will soon be Christmas once again and this year the Christmas lights will be switched on all over Penzance town centre on the afternoon of Saturday 27th November. Various activities and entertainment will be taking place throughout the town centre and the Cornwall Hospice Care 'Light up a Life' service will be held by the Christmas tree at the Humphry Davy Statue on Market Jew Street. The Town Mayor, Councillor Jan Ruhrmund, will be travelling through the town centre by steam car and the lights will be switched on as follows:-
3:45pm Causewayhead (Look out for Father Christmas!)
4:15pm Wharfside Shopping Centre
4:30pm Cornwall Hospice Care 'Light up a Life' Service followed by the switch-on at the Humphry Davy Statue, Market Jew Street
5:00pm St John's Hall Christmas tree
Musical accompaniment will be provided by the Pensans Community School Choir and Penzance Silver Band supported by the Golowan Band. Bolitho School will be dancing.
The Christmas tree at the Humphry Davy Statue is provided by Penzance Town Council and the tree outside St John's Hall by the local Cornwall Councillors.
