August 1572 - France is torn apart in bitter religious wars. Marguerite, known as Margot, is proud and beautiful; the Catholic sister of King Charles IX, she is forced to marry the Protestant Henri de Navarre in an effort to reconcile her native France.

Six days after the wedding, the infamous St Bartholomew's Day massacre takes place, encouraged by Margot's mother, the ruthless and scheming Catherine de Medici.

Thousands of Protestants are brutally murdered, but one of them, La Mole who is badly wounded, knocks on Margot's door in desperation. She takes him in and, for the first time in her life, she falls in love...with the enemy.

  • ROFL at 0:34 :D

  • lol trailers used to be awful!!!!!

cracking film though. watched it yesterday, want to watch it again right now!

  • @ambershoshana This passage is from The Companions of Jehu--page 396--"You are ninnies! I have cheated all the time we've been playing, and you never found out. Those who lost can take their money back." Born and bred in the Catholic faith, Bonaparte no preference for any dogma. When he re-established divine worship it was done as a political act, not as a reiligous one.

  • This is such a good film , I thought it captured the atmosphere 16th century court intrigue well.

  • Un film formidable. Beau mais aussi triste, pauvre Margot. Merci pour le trailer.X

  • i'm a descendant of the Huguenots.
