From the 1966 LP 'A Quick One'
The Wholigans (a WHO tribute band) were invited to play at the opening of Tom Wright's photo exhibit in Traverse Michigan November 13th 2003
He is Pete's friend and former WHO road manager and famous photographer (see his site for WHO photo's)
Here is Tom Wright's site so you can see what an influence he was / is on WHOworld.

Tom asked us to play the first 3 songs he ever heard The Who played in America...Run Run Run,Substitute and My Generation (WHO fans feel free to correct me if I'm wrong)
Anyway ,we (The Wholigans) had all flown in from different parts of the world for this gig, and obviously had no rehearsal.
So we run to a small backstage room and run through it, with Darren(drummmer) banging the sticks on a table and the guitars unplugged, we gave it one run through, then went on to do a soundcheck.
We played RUN RUN RUN & Tom say's to us......"Can you play something you know!!!"
OUCH !!!!!..that hurt.
So obviously that song was taken out from the show.
So for the 3 song set at the exhibit we played 'I can't Explain'...'Substitute' & 'My Generation instead
( 'My Generation' from that day ,you can see here) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4DJsZ7GOvU
After that there was an afterparty at 'Streeters' nightclub for 2000 'friends' invite only, Pete and Joe Walsh were supposed to be there but both sent video's because of conflicting schedules and apparently Joe's house had burned down in the California fires.
Ian Mclaglen(The Faces) was there and assorted other celebs for an all night jam.
We played an hour or two hours long set ,and we (I) decided we would give 'Run Run Run' another shot, so here's the result.
It's put up here more for a laugh, so any critics out there take note.

I love you!
You can tell someone you love them without it being romantic or suggestive.
