White's Ferry, across the Potomac River between Maryland and Loudoun County, Virginia, is the last cable operated ferry on the East Coast. Its available for travelers by car, bike and by foot. The most scenic and historic way to cross the Potomac.
I grew up in Montgomery and moved to VA (altho in FL now). Crossed so many times, I can't even count and hope she continues her steady journeys so that others may enjoy the peace and beauty of the river.
funny seeing this cause i live in poolesville which is the first town on the maryland side and ive been there many many many times rode across it many many many times to still very nice
It's a very sweet ferry. Lovely area. My mom lives a mile away on the Virginia side and my sisters often take their kids to bikeride on the old tow path.

Nice to see this here. I went on the ferry in 2008 when I was over from England visiting my daughter. Great experience.

Looks like a fun boat-ride if you go that way but we have our own ferries in Oregon.
Wheatland Ferry, Canby Ferry, Buena Vista Ferry. :) Take your pick.
Even Though you have a snack shop which we don't. I bet the prices of things are double and wayyy out of tourists budgets.
A bottle of water is probabley 2.00$ compared to 1.25$ at a regular store. :(
