Life with Rocky - RIP

I'm very sad to write that on 5/17/11 Rocky passed away. He was playing and having fun the night before, but early the next morning I heard him cry out to me. He was not doing well, and within minutes he died in my arms. He was everything to me, and I will miss my loving companion forever. RIP Rocky.....

Some of my favorite pictures of Rocky. A little background: I found Rocky in a small ad more than 19 years ago, and he and I warmed up to each other very quick. A few years ago he got an eye injury and developed cataracts, and lost his vision, but handled it very well.

Awww, that is really sad Mike. I know how you must feel. How old was Rocky? And what suddenly took him? I'm really sorry to hear he didn't last longer, as many 'toos can live for so long. We're here for you, Mike.

Thank you... Rocky was about 30-35 from what the vets had told me. He suffered occasional seizures over the years and I think that's what happened on May 17. Life has not been the same without him...

@blindtoo - OMG - Viv and Michael - I am so so sorry for your losses. Rocky and EB were two of my most favorite birds on TPP (next to Booger). I still hurt having to rehome Booger but just can't imagine the pain the two of you went through. I miss the old group and hearing about all of the fids. Hope you are both well. Jo

@Vlawton Yes, I do remember EB... and I know how these birds make a huge impact on us. I was looking through my saved videos and found the last video I took of Rocky, just a few months ago. Very hard to watch because he was so happy in the video... and that's what I miss about hiim. I'm trying to put something together, a final video.. but it's difficult because I miss him.

(part 2...) Heart meds and pain meds and she seemed to stabalize... but the day came that I just knew. I got to say my goodbyes as she snuggled to my cheek.... she certainly was one special little cockatiel that took a very piece of my soul with her when she left this world. I wish I had the ability to do something like this video for her. I have lots of pics... but not a clue how to make a memorial video. I'm still amazed at how many people grew to love EB via the internet.

@blindtoo You may remember my little cockatiel EB. I lost her at the end of June. She survived a hysterectomy 2 years ago (cancer was discovered at that time... but believed to have stayed confined and was completely removed). Almost 10 yrs to the day I adopted her... she passed in my hands. We think she developed a heart problem... she loss use of her foot... from possibly a blood clot. She lost lots of weight and wasn't doing well. (cont...)
