when i formate do i need to take outmy usb cuz if i leave it on when i format dose it erase everything on usb cuz im backing up on usb and after i do that take out usb then format then put back in usb the restore tell me or just leave it on

i have a 160GB and im backing up onUSB whats better quick format or full format cuz my ps3 is taking up 3 hours to save info its alot and i have a 64GB USB so whts better quick format or full plz let me know

@funkeydavid Replace ur hdd, by buying a new one...
U may choose one from 200 gb to 750 gb HDD.. PS3 wont accept 1 TB HDD.
And get a 2.5 inches HDD, 5400 rpm Sata 2, western digital..

@Takai420 You were probably using a very slow external drive to be honest. If not, there might be an issue with your PS3's USB controller...

Thx...this video helped me to upgrade my ps3 HDD for a bigger one and restored my backup utility just like where I left off. Very straight forward indeed :)
