  • I'd say the way the network currently is in Victoria, there's no way you'd be able to run trains at really high speeds. If you look at videos of bullet trains in Asia and Europe, the train lines are isolated from roads and other crossings. Everything is bridged over or tunnelled under to avoid the dangers of level crossings.

Victoria's network would require hundreds (if not thousands) of bridges and/or tunnels to be built in order to run ultra-high-speed trains. That would be a very expensive.

  • i still like XPT

  • i love trains but our current fleet is too slow this vic government believes in transprt what a crock the problem is slow trains i'm not saying lets go 500kmph at least 250kmph in country towns and 160 in suburbs imagine the patronage especially if petrol goes back to $1.60 a litre in about 2 years from now.

No planning for future sorry Kennett never built 1 billion ultra fast train between gtown and melb whole fast rail never achieved anything 550 he promised 160 for the same price PLEASE.

  • I hope so because i catch one of the v/line trains every morning to get to school.

  • Fuck yeah! I'll support V/line anytime! FUCK connex. and FUCK flinders street for being full of curry munchers, I blame Connex that because all their trains are late and that causes the indians to hang around melbourne for longer periods of time

  • That's hardly surprising considering that the Connex services are a "stop all stations to Pakenham" frustration inducing joke.

  • Nice trains. Pity that the ones that run to Traralgon are mainly full of Connex passengers, whilst V/Line passengers have to stand, until the Connex passengers leave. Maybe one day V/Line will give priority to V/Line passengers....we live in hope

  • At Broadmeadows station a 13 or 14 year old was killed by the 4:49pm Seymour sprinter service there is still blood on the station platform where he was hit trying to get a $2 coin that fell on the track.

  • amen

  • Actually he was killed by a Sprinter, which is Red, Blue and Silver. Vlocitys are purple green and silver. But I will agree, It was very sad that a a child of that age was killed like that.
