@gundar300 you can play any nation on earth at the time, however most of africa was ruled by britain , portugal , belgium and france, the only independant nation i believe was Ethiopia and in HoI 2 it starts at war with Italy so is unlikely to survive long
in the other games you can play as african nations - eg Europa Universalis 3, and in the latest one Victoria 2 theres a few african nations but not many
you can however release nations you rule , resign load a save and select that nation.

Very nice job, even with the dissent tweaks. Shame it all went a bit pearshaped towards the end. I'm currently at '44 with an uber-cautious neutral Italy - I waged limited wars against Greece and Vichy France in '39-'40 and, having sunk most of my GDP on throwing ambassador's parties for the US, UK, and USSR, am hoping that Italian North Africa will survive the war. What happens to Vichy France territory taken by non-Axis powers when France is restored?

Lol i did the funniest thing once the game bugged on me so instead of italy annexing albania(me) i got to annex italy and they didn't refuse so albania was on steriods.

Do you have the downs? Reggiane Re.2005 and Macchi C.202, all I need to say. Two of the best fighter planes coming out of WW2, the only thing keeping the Macchi from being better than the Spitfire and ME109 was the climb rate and guns. Besides that, the Saggitario was better than the enemy planes. But with most of Italy's equiptment during the war, it was too little too late. If Mussolini would have stayed out of the conflict and prepared until 1943 they would have been unstoppable.

"Romania had a better land army, aviation and organisation in ww2 than Italy."
WTF!? o_O
Absolutely incorrect....
"I think what's unrealistic is that Italy has good interceptors and fighters, wich wasn't quite true at the time."
Otherwise that's true..

Romania had a better land army, aviation and organisation in ww2 than Italy. The purpose of the game is to be realistic. With Italy you have more IC to allocate and more technology slots than you have with Romania. And Italy is a good country to play with, if you have a combined naval and aerial strategy. Use wisely your naval planes and rearrange your fleets. I think what's unrealistic is that Italy has good interceptors and fighters, wich wasn't quite true at the time.

thats strange. maybe its a bug of early versions. i use DD+Arma. though i haven't played as Italy yet i'm only planning

Cant quite remember for sure what happens, I think sometimes the territory automatically becomes your own at the end of war - like in that italy game of mine im pretty certain when germany fell and greece got released the only territory that was their own was crete and all other territory that i had annexed remained my own. - you may need to annex vichy entirely OR take territories and see if you can liberate a region (and maybe cancel puppet alliance and invade that new nation)

have you thought about invading and annexing Republican Spain right after they win the SCW? it gives you IC and much needed resources plus naval bases along the atlantic coast. but most important it later lets you to take Gibraltar when the war with allies breaks out. which means control of western Mediterranean.

Not a bad idea, i recall doing that in one of my italy games but the AI went crazy and the S.U declared war on loads of countries before germany even annexed poland
