I liked the split screens and scrolling credits. I'm just glad they never did anything funky with the music, like Knots Landing did every season with uneven results.

Dallas: The land of oil, guns, cattle, hats and great steak.
-
Not really, it was a great change from the tired Split screens.

The greatest show ever made. If the world owed America just one favour-it would be for giving us all Dallas.

I hated the opening for the last two seasons. The golden "Dallas" logo shooting out of the exploding ground and flashing to the actors with each drumbeat, was ridiculous. Thanks for posting, though. : )

I Believe This Was "Dallas" Video Open From September 22, 1989.

and the last shot of April in the credits was not so good, yes in the fur coat in the begonning was better.

@dknights411 Yup, I watched both of them, When I saw Texas Stadium go, I knew that was the end.
-
Just a follow up, as of mid-April 2010, both Texas Stadium and Reunion Arena are no more. Demolition work on Reunion Arena ended last November, and Texas Stadium was imploded on April 11, 2010.

Came here to hear the WHOLE theme for this season, since the Warner dipshits only used one channel of the obviously stereo theme on the new DVD set. (Renamed season 13 for DVD btw) It sounds ridiculous with half the music missing. This version seems mono too, but at least it was properly downmixed to contain both channels.
I totally love the shot of April in the fur coat in the beginning!!

And Jamie Ewing Barnes was never in the opening although she was a starring. Afton Cooper was only in the Dallas film in the opening credits. In the end, the opening was worth anything: April was dead many episodes and they did not take her away. As they could arrange to add LAD and Sasha Mitchell, they could also have removed April. Barbara Stock was included although her role was not so important as Jamie's or Aftons.
