This method applies to all brands of cameras and works equally well on a t2i as it does on D7000.

Tools used:
Vegas 11
Neat Video Noise Reduction http://www.neatvideo.com/
Sapphire Effects OFX: http://www.genarts.com/software/sapphire/after-effects
Magic Bullet Suite: http://www.redgiantsoftware.com/products/all/magic-bullet-suite/

Steps:

Clean Video with Neat Video - emphasis on blurring chroma - use chroma blur tool in addition if results are not to your liking

Add in effects to add information to the picture if applicable, in this case I added in a blurred lens flare with the 64-bit OFX sapphire plugin - other options include diffusion or other color corrections

Uprez (if applicable) and apply a slight monochromatic film grain in Magic Bullet and export at 1080p or above

  • @gatler05 Whoa bro

  • thanks for the video ! That lens flare idea is a great one!! I have a question, I can open to 1.4 (canon FD) on a GH1, but it lacks a lot of details (night setup), would it be better to go higher on iso and use neat video, or would it lack even more details because of the removed noise. I use the hack that mostly provides a lot of details. Do you think I'd have more details with a GH2 for night shots? Thank you in advance !

  • @NfectMedia If the lens is really bad I'd stick to 1.8 or f2, but almost always having the lens wide open is preferable to upping the ISO. On the Gh1 in particular, in order to avoid FPN at high ISOs, you should always have a light in your scene that reaches 100% exposure. (ex: a lampost with the light in the shot)

  • Easy: Screw the Canon, get a Nikon.

  • whats wrong with your fucking face

  • Interesting.

  • I try to get Neat Video but they told me this in an email >>>" Dear Sir, Unfortunately, Neat Video products are currently not available for technical reasons. SWREG will refund the payment for the order you have placed. Please accept our apology for the inconvenience." Best regards,

    Alex

  • @eyepatchentertainmen I NEED YOUR ASSISTANCE

  • @eyepatchentertainmen thanks a lot for the answer !

  • I already try it, because I only got a kit lens. And usually on night shots I work with ISO 6400, so my footage it's basically a noise festival. Neat Video works pretty well for me. I will try your settings. Great tutorial BTW!.
