Catholic Clerical Sex Abuse

Commentary on the Irish scandals in re the release of the Ryan report on sex abuse by priests and religious order members in schools in Ireland. This sickness - which has been covered -up at the highest levels of the Church & state - must stop.

There must be justice for the victims. Not just $$, but prosecution of the living guilty parties AND the Bishops & Vatican officials who knew of this (and had supervisory responsibility!) yet did nothing to stop it. Nor remove the guilty from the clergy.

More then a few of the Irish Christian Brothers, Martist Brothers, Jesuits, & Sisters of Mercy (along with members of other orders) who got 'caught' were sent to the US to teach in Catholic schools here. The horrific abuse in US schools is all too well known........to many generations.

For justice to be done, the assets of the religious orders involved should be seized & Irish Church & Vatican officials - including Pope Benedict - should be tried before the World Court in the Hague......

...for crimes against humanity.

It would seem that it is yourself who is bent upon the stereotypical Ad Hominem mode of 'defend the indefensible by attacking the critic'.

It is yourself who has failed to present any lucid defense of - whatever it is that you are loyal to. Note well: any defense which is founded in Canon Law, dogma & 'spin' is, by definition, not of Christ.

Indeed there are many genuinely good & sincere ppl within the Church. Many of these, like yourself, see clearly what is wrong with the hierarchy - especially in re the sex abuse coverup. It is literal criminal conspiracy, in legal terms.

Historically, most of the truly 'saintly' deeds were done OUTSIDE of (& often in fear of) the Hierarchy. This includes everything from genuine, selfless charity - done in secret, as Jesus taught, to intimate prayer life.

There are many wonderful kind people who work hard within the Chruch.The hierarchy of the Church are WRONG with the coverup.I do pray there will be change so these crinimals will be accountable for the coverup.The deeds done were horrible and unexcuseable, I feel the coverup is as bad or worse. Wrong is wrong! I am indeed loyal to Christ nobody will take that away from me!!

To your parish priest? Bishop? Metropolitan? The Vatican Curia? The Pope? These are mere fallible mortal persons & entities; none are Divine. None are free from error.

If you are loyal to Christ & His Gospel, then you have my respect - & such 'loyalty' is correctly placed.

You speak truth: wrong is wrong, no matter who does it or what office he holds....or what hat he wears.

Yes you are entitled to your view, however, I too am a loyal Catholic and was brought up to know what is "right" and what is "wrong", the cover up all these years was WRONG. Regardless of which Church you were raised in wrong is wrong.
