I used to work on the flight decks of aircraft carriers. It is one of the most exciting things anybody can do. It is also one of the most dangerous jobs in the world. Around 1960, the Rand Corporation did a study on dangerous jobs. It was determined that being a Combat Infantryman, IN COMBAT, was the #1 most dangerous job in the world. #2 was working on the flight deck of a carrier, even in peacetime. I, personally, had 2 near-death experiences, about 1 month apart.
