Heard they did this album at Real World Studios (Peter Gabriel's garage studio at the time, before he built the current behemoth) at night/downtime during the "So" sessions. This recording sure sounds like it. Same players (Manu Katche on drums!) on this one, too... Sledgehammer!
@stacksovids12 I think that an opening like like "They paved paradise, put up a parking lot" is light-years ahead of *any* of the pieces of 'commercial stuff' being done today. Now, I *love* me my Hejira (*especially* Hejira) and Hissing and For the Roses, but to vilify Taxi is a little much.
Just because something was a commercial success and continues to garner sub-par remakes of it does not mean it's a poor example of her song-writing prowess.
