An installation by glass artist Dale Chihuly at the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx, 2006.

Response to a friend's question about what art is in my eyes: To me, almost anything can be art. On one side is the artist's intention. On the other is the way I see it. There doesn't even have to be an artist. Or I become the artist by seeing it as art. Either one can set art into motion. The accompanying film is a meeting of the two. The artist is Dale Chihuly. The film is how I saw it.

  • My favorite living artist in the whole world. I've been collecting his books for a very long time. As expensive as they are I still don't have a piece of his work.... Palm Springs Airport has a display... I was in heaven! Did you see his work in Venice? Blimey!

  • I saw the documentary on the Venice project. I priced some of his work in San Francisco a couple of years ago. Way out of my budget.

  • wooo art's a pretty boring thing in your world!

  • Truly amazing work! I feel absolutely enchanted by his works.

  • beautiful projects, pieces like these shows how creative humans can be with a simple thing like glass and some colour. Personally I would love to go to this garden in person, on shrooms, to be able to expirience these in the way I'd imagine they were percieved, along with the same soundtrack as I walk along, it would be a breath taking expirience.

  • man made pollution...

  • The way Chihuly designs in glass I feel like I'm seeing the fantasy gardens of a child's imagination. And it's absolutely wonderful to see the world looking the way every child wishes it really would. You kind of think "I remember this place" but you know that place was never real.

  • His work is so surreal, its like you've fallen down the rabbits hole and right into wonderland.

  • Yeah, I stick to his books and drool. His books are expensive enough lol
