Great dog food but soooooooooooooo fucking expensive - 58 euros for 12kgs in Ireland! Thats 20 a week for a great dane and 12 for a retriever or a grand a year for a dane and 600 for a retriever!

@tkkamele makes all perfect sense, will try and see, thx a lot!

@majotnf Here is a simple way to switch your dog's diet. First rule of thumb, switch over the minimum of 6 days.-------days 1+2 75% old food 25% new food..days 3+4 50% old 50% new...days 5+6 75% new food 25% old food......As you can see this is a 3 step transition. It will go better the longer you take to switch, so if you are able to switch over a 3 week period, even better. Just use the same ratios, but it will be 1 week between changing the percentages. If you need clarification, say so.

@tkkamele thx man, seems like u prefer Acana to all other brands I've mentioned... I will go for it and see how my dog likes it, maybe first by mixing it with Royal Canine just to get used to it... the funny thing is, my dog gets kind of picky when it comes to stuff he's been eating for more than 2-3 weeks though I give him no reason for being spoiled... don't think it's a sensitive digestion thing either...

@majotnf Now for the second part of your question. Do not be alarmed if your dog reduces his/her consumption when the weather warms up. Large and giant breeds are notorious for doing this. Also remember that the feeding guidelines on any bag of food is just a recommended starting point. All dogs are different as far as nutritional requirements just like people. Activity level and metabolism may vary greatly among individual dogs, even if they are the same breed.

@majotnf I will keep it short and simple. Acana is a very good food. It is made by Orijen, a Canadian company that locally sources all of its ingredients. Go for the large breed puppy formula and remember to transition your dog to the food slowly because it is much different from Royal Canin. Hopefully this reply goes through.

@majotnf Sorry, but for some reason Youtube keeps telling me error when I try to reply to you.

@tkkamele thx dude, the top brands available in the region I live I can get for my bernese mountain dog are Eukanuba, Royal Canine and Purina ProPlan, right now my dog is on Royal Canine for 8-24month-old puppies... the other quite frequent brands like Arcana, Eminent etc. seem of lower quality...
please let me know what do u think...
also, I cannot get my dog eat the daily recommended amount of food these days as it got warmer and he is simply way too reluctant to do so... any idea on that?tx

@majotnf Sorry, I didn't have enough space to get everything into the other reply. I am willing to help you in any way I can. Like I said before this is what I have done for a living the past 20 years, so it is one of my passions. Find some brands that are available to you and tell me what they are in another reply. I will research them for you to give you an idea of their quality. Make sure you go to an independent pet supply store, not a chain store. They should have better quality.
i give my dog ORIJEN DOG FOOD. IT TOPS THIS SHIT!

I would never advise anyone to try "grocery" brands. As for the ingredients, they are listed and a little research into the company will tell you what kind of quality they use.
Why is debating the ingredients "debating without ending?" What is good for your dog and bad is fact.........So there will be an end to the debate.
Please tell what formula of RC you use, like I said, and I will tell you what is controversial about it. As stated before, RC is not a bad food, but there is much better.
