Mud-plugging Cyclocross style

I'd noticed the Google maps van had gone down this route (ALL the way down)
So we decided to take a 'different' route into work which involved what looked like a small road. Yeah, right. This was the day we became CX commuters. Cyclocross and Commuting, an insane combination, but funny; Oh dear God, so very funny

Yup - we're both riding Specialized Tricross Sports (2009 and 2011 models) but both are using road tyres. Mine had 28c Conti Ultras and my mate had the 32c ones.

Watching this again... I realise that this would've been no fun if we'd actually used the right tyres and fitted CX treaded ones. Most of the fun was doing something like this on completely unsuitable tyres :)

haha i know what you mean, occasionally i'd take my roadie through the dirt myself. How do you like the specialized though? ive seen some and was looking into it

It's a good bike. I got mine specifically to cope with a mixed 14 mile commute (at the time) It was rural roads, a bridleway, sub-urban / city roads and a cycle path. It copes with them all beautifully. Plus it means I can mix longer (100K) rides in that go on to light trails.
