The Magha star (Nakshatra) is an exemplary star. Leaders are born under this star. The Moon goes into Magha star every month. When the Moon is in Magha star and the Sun is in Aquarius, it is called Maasi Magha. This year, the Moon goes into the Magha star around March 9/10, 2009 (depending on your part of the world). The time of Maasi Magha has great potential to cleanse the body, mind and soul. In India, March 10, 2009 is an especially favorable time to vist the Magha Tank (a water tank or pond) at Kumbakonam (a temple city) in Tamil Nadu, India.

This tank is also known as Mahamaham Tank. The story is that a holy pool of nectar flowed out of Lord Brahma's waterpot after it was broken by a shot from Lord Siva's arrow. The Mahamaham Tank is in the Southeast of the Adi Kumbheswarar Shrine in Kumbakonam. It is said to have sin removing properties.
