  • Beautiful sentiments quickly evaporate in the harsh light of reality, lofty motives disappear in the presence of human predators. Backed into a corner, ethics dissolve and human nature returns to selfish regard. People suck.

  • Selfish people and the harsh light of a sucky world are yet more reasons to be wise, hopeful and kind.

If you know for sure things will get worse, does logic not suggest we start as lofty and ethical as we know how?

  • Incredibly well done! Music fits well too. I memorized this in junior high school and I strive to follow it as well, it means so much to me. I hear the words in my head often. Sometimes the other voices are talking too loud and I can't hear it at all, but that's ok, that's why I memorized it. LaLaLaLaLa!

  • You're right. I find the beauty of this poem is that it really covers the whole spectrum of life. I've had it hanging on my wall since a friend gave it to me about a decaade ago, and sometimes I just stop and read it for a while.

As for the music, it's arguably my favourite composition and I have long been wanting to use it to make a video.

  • Life is full of signs, we either see them and are blissfully ignorant, or we, like myself, more and more in life, listen and learn, or just know wether we're in the right place or not within the big scheme of things. I've had a few signs in life lately, I'm listening to the messages behind them and am doing better for it. This video let me know I'm in the right place, right now. Thank you for being a messenger in my life today.

    Peace.

  • Thank-you for believing, and letting me be a part of your journey.

  • Well done this is my fav poem from now on

  • I have also seek to live by these word from the moment I read them in 1978 (when I was 17 years old). I have had the words on diaplay untill this day.

    Thanks ME.

  • Yes!! I have loved this since I first read it at 18 or so. My love for it is probably the one thing that has remained 'constant' in my life. The music is also a perfect fit, although it can make almost anything sound (or look, or taste) good.

    Peace and Love

  • Well done.

  • Good words to live by. I should remember them more often...

  • Positive attitudes have their place I suppose ( and I'm all for human kindness ) but in a sense

the higher you soar the farther you fall.
