@1967mustanggta I am not surprised. Disney likes happy endings. It sells more merchandise, you see. Disney gave the Little Mermaid a happy ending, didn't they?

@SithianHawk I talked to someone years ago in the movie business who said Disney had an interest in US distribution of this movie. Sat through a showing generally pleased but just about fell out of their chairs with surprise and discust over the final scene and walked out.
