Little Tich snippets

This is a cobbled-together glimpse of Little Tich's stage act. The voice in the background of the second clip is Sandy Powell who worked the halls with him when he was a lad. Little Tich had six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot which made him a polydactyl - he was four feet six inches (1.37 m) in height, his real name was Henry Relph but Little Tich was his stage moniker. He was the toast of Europe and spoke many languages.

Originally he called himself The Little Tichborne, after the then (in)famous claimant to the Tichborne fortune (you'll have to look it up!) , who was rather short and toured the music halls to promote his claim.

The name got shortened to Little Tich (no 't'), and later the word titch (with a 't') came to mean a short person.

The Big Boots film was made some years after he'd dropped it from his act because he was a bit too old to keep it up. Aren't we all?

I know the second clip is from 1900, but do you know when the first clip was filmed? I never knew there was more footage of his Big Boots Dance routine.
