Yeah I know what you mean; Christian compassion is compassion with conditions. Atheist compassion is compassion with no strings attached (and we are apparently the ones that need help??). You should get in contact with your local atheist alliance as I am sure there are many people in your situation that you can reach out to, and who will support you. Just surviving is no way to live, and exactly how the church wants you to feel; alienated and outcast so that you will return. Stay strong brother!

Dan Barker did a superb job of giving a terse and witty analogy of how absurd and unjust the Christian scheme of salvation is. The "Good News" of Christianity is essentially the religion attempting solve a problem that it imagined up. It would be the equivalent of me saying you owe me money, which you never borrowed, and then absolving you of the imaginary debt, and then expecting you to love me for it. It is the height of insanity to find this belief at all plausible.

I hope you find this message since your original message was 2 months ago. I found groups through meetup dot com. Search for atheist groups and, if you don't live in a rural area, you'll most likely find some. Worked for me, and it's turning everything around for me.

cant do the clergy project. I was never legally in the ministry, just got "ordained" once in a church and just volunteered to help people. its about survival now. I was basically abandoned. thats another thing about this. christians (religios in general) are the first ones to toss someone under the buss for wanting to leave. no continuing friendships just fuckin proselytizing. when I say "friend yes, proselytizing no!" they say "o.k. fine" and just leave. real compassion eh?!?
