1978 Ford Custom 500 *LTD*(460 Police Interceptor Pursuit Special) 285-75-15's on the back! Highway geard.. 1 of 4 Specially built RCMP "Pursuit Specials".. last one known in existence. Located in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada. 0-60 in 6 Seconds (with street trim). Car weighs 5300 Pounds with driver!

0-54 MPH in 1st gear
54-102 MPH in 2nd gear
102- Unlimited MPH (146 MPH .est) in 3rd gear.... LOOONG TALL 3rd gear!

@WPGinterceptor Do you have any special info. (factory literature, service bulletins, engine specs, production figures etc.) on the car? I'd be interested in knowing what sets your car apart from regular interceptors. Don't take it personal, but unless you have a seriously modified version of that car, no 460, police or otherwise, could achieve the kind of numbers your quoting. If you have the info., put it up on a future vid.

@rever65 She has been to the track a few times, with my best time of 14.54 (on street tires)

With the Drag radials ive run a 13.61 (absolute best time) otherwise she runs 13.9 to 14 flat consistantly on the radials!

She runs 0-60 in 6 flat (first gear) second to 102 (end of quarter mile) 3rd is a loong talllll gear!!!!!!!! ive had it to 140+ and she floats.. my uncle said he had it to almost 150 on a downgrade.

She hauls ass and sux gas.. not bad for 5000+ pounds!

@rever65 Oh.. and in this BURNOUT video, the car still had the factory exhaust on it and those are 285-75-15's on there that are being roasted!!

Those tires I ran the 14.54 (with some slight spin 1/4 mile)

as for the specs

Got the big valves 2.19-1.76

Zero'd heads, Interceptor cam (basically torque cam)

Roughly 9.4-1 compression (stock 460 Police Interceptors have a true 8-1 compression)

Mods ive done is replace the factory (free flowing mufflers, as they call them with dynomax and yet i didnt notice anything other than it being louder!) Headers, intake and carb! and before these mods I ran a 14.54 on street tires!

Didn't think they were THAT rare. An acquaintance had an ex RCMP '78 Custom 500, still painted mountie blue, 460 equipped, back in '96, in St.Albert, Alberta.

I have the exact same year, except it's a 2 door Laundau, 2 barrel 400 Cleveland, awesome car. It's now in store for a rebuild due to me locking up the engine. i have a 434 striker kit, edelbrock 4 barrel intake manifold, and if everything goes alright, I'll have me a 450+ horsepower beast just like yours.

Or you could always sell me your beast, I always wanted an ltd with a 460 =D
