Life on the island

Short film contemplating life on the islands at the Swedish west coast. The whole scene was shot during half an hour and in one spot at the ferry quay to Hönö island (Lilla Varholmen) a sunday afternoon. I was using a D300s with the Nikkor 70-200/2.8 VR for the HD footage and a second D300 body with a Nikkor 10.5/2.8 fisheye for the timelapses. All of which I shot simultaneously on two tripods.

The timelapses were shot as two series of 600 RAW images each (1200 images total) processed and exported as 1280x720 JPEGs in Lightroom, then put together as a 25fps sequence in Photoshop CS4 and exported as Apple Intermediate Codec (AIC) footage for editing in iMovie.

All edits and grading, vignettes etc. in iMovie '09 on a MacBook Pro.

Was this shot with the D300 or D300s ?

@RYTrose - Thanks! It was actually shot with both, I used the D300s for the video footage (with Nikon 70-200 VR) while I had the D300 sitting on a tripod with fisheye shooting still images with interval timer for the two timelapses of the ferry entering and leaving. It was all done in like half hour. Editing took a lot longer though. ;)

What would be the difference between shooting a video and timelapsing it in the post (using imovie 09) and taking several pictures and doing it in photoshop like you described in the description box.
