50's cabaret and nightclub sensation, Joyce Bryant, also known as the "Bronze Blonde Bombshell". Miss Bryant left the stage at the height of her career because she was unable to reconcile her hyper-sexual image with her Christian faith. 'Love For Sale' was banned from the radio because it was thought too provocative by censors. Bryant was under consideration for the lead role in the musical 'Carmen Jones' which ultimately went to Dorothy Dandridge.

i never heard of her..but searched for song.Knew a performer

irene kral did it on my moms nightclub show. Irene was Roy krals sister. She died..in la. This song was by cole porter i believe ...it was written for broadway but pulled from the show for risque. Never sung in show. This gal is fab. Im so happy to share this song with friends. I saw Irene do it over and over in my moms night club. Reta RAy. Reta has pic with billy daniels on here too. Soon I put my mom songs up. when i can.

I'm writing a paper on black female performers and I came across her...just GORGEOUS!!! That voice is perfection!! It's a shame Bryant and those that came before her don't get the media attention like these non-singers do today :-(
