@vguiver Seems like you like the right ones. Many of the names i don´t know. But impressive that you still choose Kubrick as the best. Eastwood is not for me on your list, but many of the others are the word cinema similar to their names.
-
@saqibk1I know you like Kubrick, I think we're just arguing about the details ... I Like Polanski, Lynch not much,I like Gondry, Mizoguchi, Kurosawa, Eisenstein, kirostami, Welles, Ford, Fincher, Scott Coppola, Allen, Antonioni, Fellini, Pasolini, Tavernier, Bresson, Goddard, Chabrol, Resnais, Rhomos, Truffaut, Fritz Lang, Bergman also like, Medem, Bigas Luna, Erice, Eastwood, Tarkovsky, Kuleshov, Pudovkin, Vertov, Wadja, Hitchcock, Ophüls ... And many more ....

@vguiver Well first of all i am and will always be a big Kubrick fan, have all his movies frome Killers Kiss to EWS, and you are right about the films you named ain´t got so much sex/violence in them. But still i will say that the european cinema is much more personal, then the american, where it´s effects and big names that dominate. So my conclusion is that if you want to see a movie, see one that touches you, and not impress you (because of the effects or violence). You like Polanski/Lynch?

@saqibk1 I have to disagree a little bit, where is the violence and sex in "the killing" or in "paths of glory","Dr Strangelove","barry lyndon" and in "2001"?
I'm european, I have done my undergraduate studies in Film Directing, and I have seen a lot of international films, like Russian, Japanese, Iranian, french Nouvelle Vague, Spanish, Italian Neorealism,German Expressionism,I find all of them very interesting. But still then, S.K, is on top.
Simplify S.K's. work, like sex and violence, is poor
-
@vguiver Yeah, but he used sex and violence as a attractor. But he is still great. See some of the european directors, like Roy Anderson. He made Du Levanda, great art. A lot of non american films/movies are the best, but they will not get the recognition because they ar´nt english launguaged and not american. American cinema is showbuisness. See also Somers Town and Fish Tank.

@saqibk1 I agree with you, making lists is very difficult, but in my opinion, should be listed only 1 ... # 1, Kubrick and the rest below.

only Andrey Tarkovskiy is missing

perfect list

Nice list, i would like to add Kubrick as #1 tho, and have Polanski and Lynch too. But great list, with great names.
