HOW TO GET THE BOTTOM BOLT OUT
Use an inspection mirror, it will help a lot to see what I'm talking about.
First, I'm not a mechanic, I'm figuring this out like the rest of you.
Use an inspection mirror to look at the bolt in question. This is the bottom bolt that faces the frame of the car. You'll see that you can't get a socket on it because there is something blocking the bottom part of the bolt. (continued in next post)

i got a 98 maxima and am having the same prob with the bottom bolt

Y dont u work or try from underneath the car
This is a screw that goes to the tensioner. You have to completely remove this screw; this will enable you to get a socket onto the bolt. The screw faces forward (toward the front of the car) and you'll find it with your inspection mirror. I believe it's a 10mm head. Get your socket on it and completely remove it. It's long and has a lot of threads so you'll be turning for a while. Once you remove this screw you can get your socket onto the bolt and remove it.

how the fuck do you get the bolt on the other side someone please help!!!!!!!!please. that sucks he didnt show that bolt wich is by far the hardest one. the one this guy is showing is super easy i got it off first so easily.if u know how to get the lower bolt on the other side please tell me!!!

Use a wrench, the lower bolt is the crazy one, you'll need to get the heat cover off and spend lots of time with the lowest one. The upper 2 can be removed with a wrench easily.

mines a 96 but its basically the same.i can get the wrench on but theres no room to turn.theres this tube for the ac orsomething in the way.the first one you get off i took off the fan for th radiator but i need the one on the opposit side its kinda below the pulley for the belt

I think on that year the alternator is kinda rotated, so the bolts holding it on are not in the same place as mine, you might just have to stand there fumbling with a wrench for an hour turning the bolts little by little till the come out, if you got a ratchet wrench you can really save some time.
