During the THREE HOUR December 8, 2009 City Council Meeting, it was decided that the City of Paducah would spend more than 1 million dollars buying a "tent" to house the vendors for the National Quilt Society show. Mayor Bill Paxton's friend, Bill Schroeder, will be allowed to rent space in this tent for $10 a square foot. Since the tent is 40,000 square feet, a possible $400,000 windfall profit will be placed into the hands of the mayor's friend, Bill Schroeder. At the end of the 3 hour meeting, about 2 minutes was set aside for public comments. When a Disabled Vietnam Veteran stood up to ask a question regarding this shady deal, he was immediately hushed up by the Mayor, who quickly adjourned the meeting. Bill Paxton (mayor of Paducah, KY) has been known for his complete control of this small Kentucky city -- and shows in a fit of temper how this town is run. A 5.5 million dollar proposal -- and one small question from a concerned Disabled Vietnam Veteran completely knocked the Mayor off his pedestal.

  • We also didn't know that "inhabitants" relocate. They live here if they are an "inhabitant". We do have ideas, but you are not allowed to share them with certain elected officials.

  • "desireable" is spelled desirable sir. Before you say others should learn to spell, use spell check yourself.

  • This view counter is frozen!!!

  • I'm sure the families that were laid off by the city are happy about this purchase. I'm sure their children will not mind a small christmas so the city counsel can sell those land tracks to thier friends! This is the same city counsel who will not support ANY social programs for the poor, but build playgrounds for the wealthy downtown. What Tools.

  • More fun from the election rigging fraud.

  • the mayor Bill Paxton is a jerk

  • People of Paducah----Paxton only remains mayor because you keep him in office... Next voting round---sink his ship..... I've always hated the ins and outs of small town politics...Leaders whose heads are so swollen that they can hardly turn them from side to side....Elected officials just like law enforcement are there to serve the people. .Efforts to keep the Quilters in Paducah should be made,, However with that being said it should benefit all the people of Paducah and not select ones.

  • I really do not care for Paxton, he practicall owns Paducah, he's just out for himself and the rich!!!!

  • "WE'RE not gona get into that" I love it!!!

  • no one was yelling in this video :(

  • Wow, Paducah, you can have better leadership than this!!! As a former Paducah resident, I'm appalled at what I see in these videos. Really, Paducah has suffered from horrid decisions -- led by one Paxton or another -- for generations. Thirty years ago city leaders gave away Barkley Park and tore down the entire first city block of historic buildings for a fellow named Green to build the Executive Inn -- the first bad decision involving that property and followed by countless others.

  • Paxton is in such a rush to get to "Executive Session" But he is not smart enough to realize that accorinng to the KY attorney Generals website they can only go into executive session IF: "notice is given in the regular meeting of the general nature of the business to be discussed, and the agency cites the specific exemption authorizing the closed session." Quoted from the KEntucky Open Meetings Act!!
