Scotland travel: Here's some views of where the guards on the wall walked in Blackness Castle, and the "spur defense" system. A very impregnable design, which may explain why Blackness Castle still stands! In fact, of all the castles we visited on our trip to Scotland, this was the only one that had no current scaffolding. Neither Oliver Cromwell's army or the ravages of time could conquer Blackness Castle! Blackness Castle is about an hour drive from where we stayed at Dalhousie Castle, and about two hours from Culzean Castle. Real People having Real Fun!
