Personally looks to me like he lost balance after he lunged the bike forward.
But still could of been alot worse if there were more riders closer to him.

Looks like the wheel jerked to the right of the rider. Did the headset unsrewed because of the stress from the attack? or did the fork snapped?

Nope. He wanted to lunge the bike forward but his hands were sweaty. So he accidentaly let go of the steer. Poor Eric. Now he has an ugly scar on his knee.
