@raiinbowjunkiie - I realize that you were being facitious :) Those 12-step programs are more about using a "higher power" for strength which can even be nature such as a tree or the garden. I know what you mean though as some people find that attending a support group that does not use a high power as part of the program is more suitable.

@Jannsmith I was being sarcastic because the description box said, "Wind up in jail or dead. There is no alternative." But now that you mention it, AA and NA offer nothing to people who aren't religious or spiritual. No offense, but if I had an addiction, I'd much rather seek out a support group that is not affiliated with god.

@raiinbowjunkiie - Even though someone who uses drugs (or alcohol which is also a drug) may be "alive", he or she may still be in a private h#ll or psychological prison. If you or anyone you know uses outside substances to get a high, please let them know that Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous has free 12-step meetings nationwide. The only requirement is having a desire to get sober. A person with an addiction can also seek counseling with a certified addiction counselor.
