When it was given on HBO in the early 80s it did have that final scene. The theatrical release was edited for a more upbeat ending.

I mean i remember this song,mostly from vh1,and I've come across the soundtrack a few times back in the days.Mostly on cheep record back when record was still som what around.When i used to flip through the cheep bin,they always had this purple and yellow record from the movie(I think) stil covered in plastic.

An i seem to recall reading somwhere that the movie didn't do all what they had expected.
