Black and Brown love: Platanos and Collard Greens

David Lamb is the author of the play "Platanos and Collard Greens" which tells the story of two college students, Freeman who is Black and Angelita who is Brown, and they have to confront and "overcome cultural and racial prejudices while defending their bond from the biases held by family and friends."

David Lamb is a play writer from New York City and he is the author of "Platanos & Collard Greens" a love story of two young Newyorkers of different racial backgrounds, who after falling for each other have to face the rejection from friends and relatives.

If you reread my comment you would see that I said MANY HISPANICS/LATINOS are Black.

It may be hard to detect all Afrodescendants in Latin America but the majority of Latinos might possibly be descendants of Africans.

And agian YOU ARE ACTING AS IF MEXICANS can't be black ! There are black Mexicans.

Mexican is not a race because then in that case I am only and truly just AMERICAN/U.S.

Thank you so much for this video. I never understood the La Raza movement not including black ancestry. The lies and dividing of the two communities should be talked about openly. Everyone knows there were a mixing of natives and blacks before and after Columbus. We don't have shows on tv like New York Undercover anymore where they had black/brown come together. it was beautiful to see. Now we have shows like Modern Family, which is an ok show, where "Latinos" are put with whites.

I totally agree with Carlos. I'm Peruvian and rarely do you ever see an Afro-Peruvian woman in a leading role but as the maid or the single mother. Everytime I tell a Peruvian person about this reality, they quickly reply "Oh yeah that should end". YA!
